About Us

The two of us in 1976

The two of us in 1976

 Howdy.

We’re the Chapmans…Steve and Annie.

First, our mission statement.

We believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. (Adapted from The Apostles’ Creed)

We believe that marriage is the union only between one man and one woman, that life begins at conception and ends at God’s appointed time.

These beliefs compel us to use music, books and motivational speaking to encourage individuals and families to let Christ be the center of their lives and their homes.

OUR HISTORY

We have been traveling, singing, writing and speaking about family issues since 1975.
(Annie)  I’m a wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to singing, speaking and writing, one of my favorite ways to spend time is to help my children with their children.

IMG_0266To keep up with them I walk three miles a day, typically five times a week so I can maintain my energy. Even with my fitness regimen by the time the little ones leave to go home, I am in serious need of a blood transfusion.  But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As a grandparent I know I have an incredible opportunity to influence the next generation in a way  no one else can do.

(Steve)  I am a musician, songwriter, author and avid outdoorsman.

steve tkyOn days when we’re not traveling, writing or entertaining grandkids you might find me outside hunting, fishing, hiking, kayaking, or riding my motorcycle.

I even like mowing the yard.

I have hunted and fished in many states and I have hiked quite a few miles of the Appalachian Trail…many of them with my children.

I love using the great outdoors to teach others about our loving Creator.

For over four decades we have shared our family friendly message through speaking, books, music and videos.

We have presented marriage enrichment weekends and concerts in every state of the union.
And we’ve had the awesome privilege of presenting marriage seminars on Air Forces Bases in many parts of the world.

I also attended West Virginia University.
I was raised on a dairy farm in Southside, WV.

I milked cows and feed hogs all my growing up years.

Living and working on the farm was the best kind of childhood.

I am the fourth child of six.

(Steve)  I am a PK, ie. a preacher’s kid.

I am the second born.
Was raised in the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia about nine miles from Southside, where Annie lived.

Our meeting is a most memorable event.

One day in high school choir I overheard her talking to a friend about her brother harvesting an 11 point buck.
I boldly invited myself to her farm to hunt and you might say the rest is history.
After attending Glenville State College in West Virginia I served in the U.S. Navy and eventually landed in the Nashville, TN area where we have lived since.

Together we have raised two terrific children, Nathan and Heidi.
They are both married and have blessed us with a total of four sweet grand-girls and we are anticipating the arrival of Grand-boy Chapman in early summer 2013.DSC_2667

About This Website

We hope you enjoy our website.

All entries will be designed to strengthen and motivate you to love your family better.
We will specifically address the issues of marriage, parenting, character development (emotional health) and outdoor insights for those who share that passion.

You’ll find several blogs that I’ve written specifically to the women that contain tips on how to be a better wife and mother.

You can read stories about people who have helped me and my husband grow as friends and lovers through the years as well as read about issues that may threaten the wholeness and sense of peace for the woman.
I have entered helpful tips on how to deal with issues such as anger, unforgiveness and making the most of our time.
Everything I share is for the purpose of lightening the load a woman carries.

Also, I (Steve) have included several entries written to help men be better husbands and fathers.

I especially want the outdoorsman to know that his passion doesn’t have to be in competition with his family but can contribute to his role as lover and protector.

And… you can listen to many of our songs with lyrics that are included with selected posts.

We hope you’ll enjoy and benefit by seeing, hearing and reading about what we’ve been doing for the last 39 years.

We hope you’ll check out our books and CD’s as well. We filled them with insights, instruction and inspiration  and all with the goal of strengthening your family.  Our mission is summed up in the following statement:

Believing that the church is only as healthy and as strong as the individual families that make up the church everything we do is for the purpose of being an encouragement to the body of Christ.

God bless you and thanks for visiting us!
