A Prayer Song For Your Family Thanksgiving Meal

Chapman Family Prayer 1957

Several years ago it was our family’s turn to say the table grace at the gathering of the Williamson “clan” on Thanksgiving Day in West Virginia. It was no surprise to everyone that Steve had put our table blessing to music. As he played the guitar the four of us began to sing the following song before the meal.

Through the years this short song has been used at mealtimes not only by our family but by many others who have heard the recording of it.

We invite you to use this musical prayer as you give thanks at your table.

God’s blessings to each of you… Steve & Annie

Guest of Honor

As our family gathers round this table
Where this meal has been prepared
Let all our hearts be grateful
As we offer up this prayer

“Our Father in Heaven
For this meal You have given
We want to say thank You
From our hearts
Bless the ones who prepared it
And Lord as we share it
Would You stay with us
And be our Guest of Honor.”

How precious this is to see you two again. My heart leaps with joy as I recall so many precious memories we shared. Lloyd has been with the Lord now for three years and it really has been a struggle to live life without him. He was “life”…he was such a character! You two were such a blessing to us and we were stonger in our daily walk with the Lord and our marriage because of the fellowship we shared and the words of your songs. Thank you again for giving to the Lord. I love you both, Patsy

  7. Steve and Annie. I occasionally use your song “Guest of Honor” as a meal prayer at the institute at which I serve in Vienna Austria. We sing it in English, with the “echo” parts in Russian. Thank you so much for your ministry and your music.

  8. WOW….came across this and was taken back to Thanksgiving of 1989. My two girls ages 9 & 6 at that time & I sang this together at our Family dinner…..such sweet memories! Your music was and still is a sweet blessing! Thank You & God’s Blessings always!

  9. I’ve thought our you both and your little girl many times since I first heard you on the radio and
also had the privilage of seeing you in a very small intimate concert at Ferris Avenue Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas in the early ’80s.
My wife and I had been married just a few years and now have recently celebrated our 38th anniversary.
Your music was a blessing to us both.
Would love to see you both again in concert. I was not a member of THAT church at that time, but
have moved to Waxahachie where I am a member of Farley Street Baptist which has a seating capacity of about 1,000.
I believe our pastor and music minister would be happy to have you come as well.
Thank you and may our God continue to bless your ministry.

You sweet folk continue to bless and bless and bless. I love being able to recall when your young ‘uns’ voices sounded just as they do here.

It has been such joy to know you through the years and an incredible honor to get to serve together for a while. Precious memories!

May your Thanksgiving this year be the sweetest one yet!
